The secret lies in the region’s clean air, pure mountain water, and rich nature—all of which you’ll experience firsthand.

This isn’t just a food tour; it’s an authentic rural experience. Guided by a local, you’ll personally harvest your own shiitake right from the log. The tour culminates in a memorable outdoor meal where you’ll grill your freshly picked mushrooms along with other local ingredients. It’s a true taste of the forest, combining the joy of hunting with a delicious BBQ experience.

9:30 AM Meet at Bungo-Mori Station & Head to the Farm

Your guide will meet you at JR Bungo-Mori Station. We’ll then take a short, scenic drive to a local shiitake mushroom farm nestled in the quiet countryside.

Learn About Shiitake Cultivation

At the farm, you’ll meet the local farmer and learn about the traditional methods of growing shiitake mushrooms on natural logs. You’ll get a real look into the care and work that goes into producing these high-quality mushrooms.

The Hunt: Harvest Your Own Shiitake

Now for the fun part! You’ll grab a basket and personally harvest your own shiitake mushrooms directly from the logs. You can pick as many as you’d like to eat.

Grill & Feast: A True Farm-to-Table Meal

The tour culminates in a delicious meal. We’ll grill your freshly picked shiitake mushrooms right there, paired with other local ingredients. You’ll get to enjoy a simple, yet incredibly flavorful meal and a relaxed chat with the farmer.
