We’ll meet you at your hotel lobby or chosen pickup point in Beppu. After a friendly hello, we’ll set off together in a comfortable private vehicle. *Hotel pickup is available.
Our first stop is the Fukoji Magaibutsu, where a remarkable collection of Buddhist figures is carved into a soft tuff cliff. The central figure, Fudo Myoo, is a true masterpiece of religious art, standing majestically against rugged rock and seasonal flowers.
Next we’ll visit Harajiri Falls, chosen among Japan’s “Top 100 Waterfalls” — a magnificent horseshoe-shaped cascade that drops, surprisingly, right in the middle of a flat plain. We can walk down to the water’s edge or take in its full 120-meter span from the wooden suspension bridge above.
We’ll take a relaxed break for lunch, and we’ll happily point you toward the best local spots to suit your taste. (Please note: the cost of the meal is not included.)
In the afternoon we’ll explore the breathtaking Oka Castle Ruins, where sheer stone walls rise from a steep plateau high above Taketa. The symbol of the town — its moonlit ruins are said to have inspired one of Japan’s most beloved melodies — it offers some of the most spectacular views in Kyushu, especially in cherry blossom and autumn-leaf seasons.
Our day together comes to a close as we drop you off at your hotel or another preferred spot in Beppu.
